What’s in a Wedding Photography Pre-Meeting?

As your wedding photographer, it’s good to get to know you and your partner well before your big day. I like to get to know your personalities and your hopes and dreams for your big day, so I can be sure to capture it perfectly. That’s where the pre-meeting comes in perfectly!

During this meeting, we will grab a coffee, discuss your plans for your big day and you can browse my portfolio to learn more about what I can offer you as a couple.

This is where your journey begins…

Style of Wedding: Everyone is different when it comes to what style their dream wedding has. From bohemian to glamourous and from traditional to contemporary – The overarching style and design of your day will often dictate the main style of photography you’ll need to capture it. When you describe your venue, your details and any themes running throughout, I can begin to build a picture of what you’ll require to ensure it’s all photographed perfectly.

Timings: It’s good for me to be in-the-know about the timings of your day, when and where you’re getting ready, plus the timings for the ceremony, food, speeches, cake and first dance and what you do and don’t want covering out of these. It’s also good for me to know what time your day and evening guests and due to arrive and if you have any little surprises for them along the way so I know what to expect and when to be ready!

New Venues: If your wedding is at a venue I haven’t worked at before, it’s good to learn as much about it as possible. I always suggest another pre-meeting at the venue too so we can suss out good photo opportunities, test timings and be familiar with the routes on the day.

What’s important to you? Again, this is something that’s quite personal. Some people just want to capture as many people in their natural poses as possible, laughing and having a good time. Is there anyone special you MUST have a photo with (An old school friend, long lost family, special relationships etc). Do you also want to be in all the photos with your guests or are you happy for me to grab groups of people together as and when I see the perfect opportunity? Are there any delicate subjects or family history I need to be aware of to avoid any awkward situations for guests? Knowing all of this will ensure I can work swiftly and professionally meaning you can enjoy your day with ease.

It’s all in the details: It’s not just about the people though, some couples have worked hard on the handmade details decorating their venue so they want to be sure to have photographs of how the day looked and showcase the work they put into it. Maybe you’ve picked flowers for your bouquet or designer shoes for the groom that mean a lot to you both… Just tell me what’s important, and I will be sure to capture it.

Whilst sipping our coffee and learning more about your day, I can begin to build a picture of what your day is going to look like, get a better understanding of your relationship and characters and ensure you are comfortable that your wedding album is going to be all you dreamed and more.
